“Coincidence does not exist in art, there is a discovery or an artistic insight. If you are sensitive to it and look at the world with an open mind than you will discover forms, alone or a combination of forms, that create a very beautiful entirety. Rubbish does not exist, everything can serve multiple purposes. In contrast to the goal and the function for it” ________________________ Arnold Aerts

My work draws inspiration from the world of architecture. Its buildings, bridges, canopies, and the environments they inhabit. I am fascinated by the duality of function and form: structures that provide home, shelter, and protection, yet also provoke emotion, memory, and imagination. ________________ Visually, my compositions play with repetition, symmetry, and disruption. I explore the space where old and new structures clash, join or disappearing into one another. Shapes flip upside down; colors twist and contrast; structures fragment and regroup in unexpected ways. There is a game at play: a deliberate tension between continuity and interruption, elegance and chaos, the picturesque and the incoherent._________ Contrast is essential to my work: the tough next to the fragile, rough textures against refined lines, historical fragments fitted into modern contexts. I use these contrasts not to find solutions, but to initiate coherence between time periods, materials, emotions and expectations. ____________________________ I embrace imperfection as a source of strength. Where correctness feels stiff and dull, I find wonder in the irregular and unpredictable. Surprise, irritation and even dissonance can give rise to the most remarkable moments. In a world that often demands perfection, I choose to celebrate what is unpolished, what moves smoothly and what arouses curiosity over certainty.
